Array Networks Application Delivery Controller (ADC) server load balancing services for SAP® applications
Array APV server load balancers enhance the availability, performance and security characteristics of SAP applications. Customers can take advantage of the stable, validated and SAP certified APV ADC solution for enterprise SAP deployments. The certification demonstrates application interoperability in complex global application landscapes by leveraging well-performing configurations of the APV ADC solution integrated with SAP solutions. Thus customers can reduce overall deployment time and reduce total cost of ownership.
Array ADCs deliver all required server load balancing functions for SAP deployments, such as Layer 4-7 server load balancing, high availability, SSL acceleration and offloading, DDoS protection, connection multiplexing, caching and compression – all in a single, easy-to-manage appliance.
ADC Server Load Balancing Services for SAP Applications
- Server Load Balancing for distributing user requests across multiple cluster nodes of a SAP application instance
- Off-loading TCP connection management, compression and SSL processing from SAP servers
- Reverse Proxy service for mapping URLs from different internal network domains and servers to one or more external URLs and domains.
Array ADC Server Load Balancer Benefits
24x7 Application Access
APV ADC server load balancers ensures 24x7 access to SAP applications and deliver 99.999% uptime for SAP applications. APV ADC platforms detect unavailable servers and will dynamically direct traffic across other available SAP servers so users and customers can always access SAP applications. The deployment benefits include load distribution of end-user and web-services traffic between servers running SAP solutions via APV’s Layer 4-7 server load balancing.
End-to-End Application Security and SSL Offloading
APV offloads SSL from SAP applications and encrypts all user and web services traffic. This allows SAP applications to focus on serving the content to end users and other E-SOA components without performance degradation. The deployment benefits include reduction in server resource usage through offloading expensive SSL encryption and decryption functions onto APV and end-to-end transaction security.
Application and Network Protection
APVs make core SAP transactions available to users over the Internet by protecting application infrastructure from attacks. Array APV ADC server load balancers protect web enabled SAP applications and SAP E-SOA components (servers and services) from malicious attacks, secure user transactions, and increase the performance and scalability of applications. The deployment benefits include protection of servers from DDoS attacks like syn floods, TCP port scans, UDP floods, UDP port scans and many more network attacks by using APV’s high-performance access control lists.
Reduce Server Infrastructure
APV ADC server load balancers uses an intelligent HTTP engine to serve client sessions using fewer TCP connections to the SAP application servers. This improves response time to end users as existing connections are reused to serve application traffic. Additionally, the reduced burden of maintaining TCP connections also allows the servers to focus its finite resources on application specific tasks. Companies can also reduce associated SAP application software and hardware license costs, IT management costs and reduce datacenter footprint.
Offloading business logic
APV ADC performs session persistence at Layer 7 to SAP NetWeaver portal® servers and backend servers for optimized user experience by inserting cookies, thereby ensuring users are served by the same SAP NetWeaver portal and session persistence is maintained for the duration of the session.
Fast and optimized response times
HTTP Caching
The APV intelligently caches and serves appropriate and frequently requested content for SAP applications from cache, thereby freeing up expensive CPU cycles for SAP applications. This allows SAP applications to scale the capacity of the servers, serving more users and sessions and dramatically improving response times.
HTTP Compression
APV improves the response time to end users by compressing data sent to them over WANs. APV adjusts the optimization and speed based on the WAN links latency and packet loss, which means all users get best possible experience. The benefit of this is that less data has to be transferred across slower networks to end users. Additionally, the task of compression is performed entirely by the APV ADCs, offloading CPU intensive compression processing from SAP application servers, allowing them to serve content instantly. This allows SAP deployments to scale the application capacity without adding more servers , serving more users and sessions and dramatically improving response times.
